HAMILTON, N.Y.- Amanda Vogelman continued her stellar play, scoring a early goal for the Temple women's soccer team, but it was not enough as the Owls (0-2) dropped a 3-1 decision to Fairfield (2-1) on Sunday afternoon in their Puma Invitational finale.
Vogelman, who was a strong offensive presence in the Owls tough loss to Marist on Friday, got Temple on the board early with an unassisted goal at the 14:24 mark. TU's lead would be short-lived, however, as Fairfield's Adrienne Boyer tied the game at one with an unassisted tally just two and a half minutes later. The Stags weren't finished yet, finding the back of the net two more times over the next 10 minutes to make it 3-1 at 26:42.
The Owls tried feverishly to mount a comeback for the remainder of the game but were unable to slip one past Stag goalkeeper Bridget Nerich.
Sophomore net minder Kara Williams totaled seven saves in 90 minutes for the Cherry and White, while Nerich had two.
Temple returns to action on Friday, September 5 when it hosts Maine in a home opener at 4:00 p.m. at the Ambler Sports Complex.
