CLEVELAND - Temple senior Tommie Williams (Green Cove Springs, Fla.) has earned Mid-American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the East division, the MAC announced on Monday.

In Temple's 35-7 at Army on Friday night, the defensive back saw playing time as a member of the kickoff and punt units. In the win, Williams had two tackles, one inside the 20 yard line. He also caused and recovered a fumble, the first of his collegiate career. Williams' fumble recovery on a punt in the first quarter led to Temple's first touchdown just three plays later.

The MAC honor is the first of Williams' collegiate career.

This week Temple (1-0, 0-0 MAC) hosts Connecticut (1-0, 0-0 Big East) on Saturday, Sept 6. Kickoff is set for Noon on ESPNU live from Lincoln Financial Field.
