AMBLER, PA - The Temple women's soccer team defeated Vermont 2-1 Sunday afternoon to complete a weekend sweep of non-conference foes at the Ambler Sports Complex. Coupled with the team's win over St. Peter's on Friday, Temple improved its mark to 2-3-1 on the campaign.
The Owls were given an offensive boost early by Allicia Yurkovic. The freshman midfielder put Temple up with a goal in the 5th minute, off an assist from fellow freshman Niki Conn.
Minutes later Yurkovic struck again, this time off a feed from graduate student Liz Allan. Temple's strong defensive presence helped hold off the Vermont attack, only allowing 10 shots on the game.
Vermont's lone goal was an unassisted tally by Erin Pichiotino on a deflection off of Owls' keeper Kara Williams. William made four saves in the contest.
Temple will compete next at Bucknell, on September 19 at 7:00 p.m.
