Former Women's Basketball Great Marilyn Stephens Named Head Coach at Cheyney University

PHILADELPHIA-Former Temple women’s basketball standout and Temple Athletics Hall of Fame member Marilyn Stephens (’84) has been named the head women’s basketball coach at Cheyney University, as announced today at a school press conference.
Stephens graduated as Temple’s all-time leading scorer and rebounder, amassing 2,194 points and 1,519 rebounds. She hold records in 11 categories, including scoring, rebounding and blocks and is the second all-time leading scorer in Temple basketball history, male or female. A Kodak All-American in 1984, Stephens was inducted into the TU Hall of Fame in 1995, the first year that she was eligible.
A two-time Atlantic 10 and Big Five Player of the Year, she was inducted into the Big Five Hall of Fame in 1989. Stephens had her number retired on February 12, 2000 and holds the distinction of being the only Temple women’s basketball player that such an honor has been bestowed upon.
Stephens has spent the last 11 years as the head girls’ basketball coach at Coral Reef Senior High School in Miami, Florida.
