Lewisburg,Pa.- Just when it seemed that the game was headed for overtime, Bucknell knocked in a goal with just 29 seconds remaining in regulation to post a 1-0 win over the Temple women's soccer team on Friday night. Goalie Kara Williams had nine saves in an effort to keep her team alive but it was not enough as Temple drops to 2-4-1 on the season.
The Bison attacked from the very first whistle, outshooting the Owls, 24-5. Temple's defense stood tall, anchored by Williams' nine saves, but could not seem to get over the hump. Bucknell's Christa Matlack took a game-high nine shots and each scoring attempt was thwarted until the 90th minute. Matlack dribbled into the box and, when Williams came out to challenge, was able to slip the ball into the back of the net for the win.
Niki Conn led the Owls with two shots.
Bison goalkeeper Kathryn Sutton had three saves in the win.
The Owls return to action on Sunday at St. Francis (Pa.) at 1 p.m.
