Senkina, Steiner Reach Doubles Semifinals At Cissie Leary

PHILADELPHIA - The doubles team of senior Dina Senkina and junior Elyse Steiner reached the semifinals to highlight the action on Friday at the Cissie Leary Invitational, hosted by Penn. Steiner also won her singles match to advance into the quarterfinals.
Senkina and Steiner opened the "Blue Bracket" with a 9-7 victory over Columbia's Donovan and Matache. The duo then dispatched of Harvard's Rosekrans and Jania, 8-6, and will face the top-seeded Kim and Clark of Yale.
Steiner also was victorious in the "Blue Bracket" in singles, defeating Penn's Anisimova, 6-3, 6-1. Senkina was not as fortunate, as she lost to fourth-seeded Jania of Harvard, 6-4, 6-1.
In the "Red Bracket," junior Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova remained undefeated this season with a 6-3, 1-6, (10-5) win over Princeton's Stewart.
In "Blue Bracket" doubles, sophomores Josephine Bergmann and Lucie Pazderova dropped their first round match to Harvard's Cao and Peterzan, 8-4. They did win their first match of the consolation bracket, beating Columbia's Murray and Suda, 8-2.
Rukavyshnykova teamed with Cornell's Seyburn in the bracket, but dropped their first round match to Harvard's Rosekrans and Jania, 8-1. The duo rebounded with a consolation bracket win over Columbia's Donovan and Matache, 8-5.
In "Red Bracket" doubles, junior Christine Clermont and sophomore Theresa Stangl lost their opening round match to Columbia's Zilberman and Makarova, 8-4. In the consolation round, they won 8-4 over Penn's Wolf and Schaffer.
Action resumes on the campus of Penn on Saturday morning.
