Temple's Jeff Wathne Named MAC Special Teams Player of the Week

CLEVELAND - Temple sophomore punter Jeff Wathne (Ledgewood, N.J.) has earned Mid-American Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the East division, the MAC announced on Monday.
Against Western Michigan, Wathne dropped four punts inside the 20 and two of those were inside the 10-yard line. He averaged 37.1 yards on eight punts. The average start for WMU was the 17 yard-line due to his efforts. Wathne also had two kickoffs for 125 yards (62.5 average). His net kickoff average was 56 yards.
The MAC honor is the first of Wathne's collegiate career and the second for a Temple player this fall. Senior Tommie Williams (Green Cove Springs, Fla.) earned the same honor on Sept. 1.
This week Temple (1-4, 0-2 MAC) visits Miami (1-3, 0-0 MAC) on Saturday, Oct. 4 for a 3:30 p.m. contest at Yager Stadium.
