Owls Fall To Nationally Ranked Princeton In Season Opener

PRINCETON, NJ - Princeton, ranked #61 by the ITA, did not drop a set on Wednesday in handing Temple a 7-0 loss in the season opener for both teams at Jadwin Gym. Junior Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova had the closest match for the Owls, falling to the Tigers' Rachel Saiontz, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) at fourth singles.
Sophomore Christine Clermont also played well before falling 7-5, 6-2 to Blakely Ashley at fifth singles. In doubles action, Rukavyshnykova and Clermont dropped an 8-4 decision to Ashley and Saiontz, 8-4, at second doubles.
The first three singles players for Princeton (1-0) were ranked regionally , including first singles player Lauren McHale, who is fifth.
Temple (0-1) will travel to Cornell on Friday.
