ITHACA, NY - Temple was the only team to go undefeated in all of its singles matches to highlight the first day of competition at the Cornell Invitational on Friday. Sophomore Theresa Stangl won a tough three-set match in Flight A, 6-7, 6-3, 10-8, over Army's Warford to headline the singles results.
"It was a great effort from the team today," head coach Steve Mauro. "Theresa Stangl has been working really hard at practice and it showed today. She really had a great performance, coming back after dropping the first set."
Also in Flight A singles, sophomore Lucie Pazderova won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, over Niagara's Hansen. Both Owls advance to today's quarterfinals.
In Flight B, junior Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova won 6-0, 6-0 over UMBC's Couto while classmate Christine Clermont captured a 6-1, 6-4 victory over UMBC's Adewumi.
