CAPE COD, Mass. - Temple seniors Alex Derenthal (Davie, Fla.) and Travis Shelton (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) have been named 2008 ECAC Football Bowl Subdivision All-Stars, the ECAC announced on Thursday.

A center, Derenthal was a Second-Team All-MAC pick by the coaches and a Third-Team All-MAC honoree by Phil Steele. He was the recipient of the George M. Illman Award for Leadership on and off the field at the team's annual banquet. Derenthal finished his career with a school record 47 consecutive starting appearances at center. He is a two-time team captain.

Temple's career leader in kickoff return yards, Shelton finished his career with 2,507 KOR yards. A Second-Team All-MAC honoree by the coaches and by Phil Steele, Shelton ranks No. 1 in the MAC and No. 3 nationally with a 31.30 KOR average. He had a 92-TD return at Kent State. The Owls have ranked among the nation's Top 3 all season, holding the No. 1 spot for three weeks.

Under third-year head coach Al Golden, Temple tied for second place in the East Division with a 4-4 record while finishing with a 5-7 overall record, the team's most wins since 1990. Five Owls were named to the All-MAC teams.
