Kinderwater finds Witmer to keep TU unbeaten in conference
Amherst, MA – An early start led to a late end Friday afternoon in Amherst, MA, as the Temple men's soccer team (7-3-1, 2-0-0 in A-10) pulled out a 1-0 double-overtime win over Massachusetts (4-4-3, 1-2-0 in A-10).
Through crowded conditions in the crease, sophomore Tyler Witmer tapped in the golden goal on a feed from junior Max Kinderwater in the 104th minute to give TU their second conference win.
Rainy conditions inhibited play for both sides, but each keeper was tested. Owls' net-minder Bret Mollon was solid in the crease, making five saves.
The Cherry and White steadily out-shot the Minutemen through regulation, posting six shots in each half, eventually out-shooting their foe 14-12. Witmer led the way for TU posting five shots, now leading the team in goals (5) and points (13)
Up next, the Owls stay north to face A-10 foe Rhode Island on Sunday, with action slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
