Williams posts five saves in hard fought contest
PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's soccer team (5-9-1, 1-6-0 in A-10) was narrowly edged by cross-town rival La Salle (9-5-2, 3-3-1 in A-10) 1-0, Friday evening. Owls keeper Kara Williams made five saves in the wet conditions, but La Salle's Melanie Gamble managed to slip one shot past her early in the second half.
Gamble found the back of the net in the 59th minute, after a strong first half showing by TU. The Owls staved off the La Salle attack, with Williams posting two saves in the first.
Junior Meridith Crowell led the way for the Cherry and White, managing three shots with one on goal. Classmate Julia Adden managed the only other shot for the Owls.
TU is in action next when they travel to Fordham on Sunday, with their match beginning at 1:00 p.m.
