PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Yun Yi Zhang led all players with 17 kills as the Temple volleyball team won its fourth straight match with a sweep at Duquesne by scores of 25-21, 25-17 and 25-16.
The Owls are now 10-7 overall and 6-2 in the Atlantic 10, while Duquesne drops to 12-11 overall and 2-6 in conference play.
Freshman Chelsea Tupuola was impressive on defense with a match-high 20 digs, while Jackie Morrison continued her double-double streak with her fifth straight, recording 32 assists and 10 digs. Cayleigh Ashman knocked down eight kills with zero errors, and Jess Antosz tallied a match-high seven blocks.
The first set was the closest of the three as the teams were tied 12 times, but Temple pulled away after the final tie at 18-18. The Owls were their most efficient on offense in the second set with 12 kills and only two errors, and out-hit Duquesne .312 to .044.
Temple took a 6-1 lead to begin the third set and never looked back, cruising to victory in the set and the match.
The Owls will have a day off before returning to action on Sunday, Oct. 25 in a 1:00 p.m. match at Saint Louis.
