Volleyball Takes #24 Saint Louis to Four Sets in A-10 Road Loss

Owls take first set against Billikens; Zhang leads Temple with 19 kills
SAINT LOUIS, Mo. - The Temple volleyball team (10-8, 6-3) earned a hard-fought win in the first set, but went on to lose 3-1 to Atlantic 10 powerhouse Saint Louis (15-6, 8-1) by scores of 23-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-17.
Senior setter Jackie Morrison put up numbers on offense and defense for the Owls, tallying 34 assists, a match-high 17 digs and six kills with just one error. Temple's Yun Yi Zhang knocked down a match-high 19 kills, while Cayleigh Ashman recorded nine kills and Jess Antosz tallied eight kills.
The Owls came back from a nine-point deficit in the first set to eventually tie the score at 22-22. An Antosz block and kill combined with two Saint Louis errors ended the set in Temple's favor.
Saint Louis recorded 17 kills with just one error to take the second set, and continued to out-hit Temple through the rest of the match.
Three players recorded double-figure kills for the Billikens, led by Sammi McCloud with 14 kills and 13 digs.
Temple's next match is a 7:00 p.m. contest at George Washington on Friday, Oct. 30.
