Cross Country Teams Prepare For Atlantic 10 Championships
10.27.09 | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
PHILADELPHIA – The men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Forest Park in St. Louis, Mo. this weekend to compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships. Both teams are poised to improve on their finishes from a year ago, and head coach Eric Mobley is confident they can do just that.
“We expect them to be able to improve on their finishes from last year,” commented Mobley. “Coach Jelley has had the teams well prepared all season, and they have what it takes to move up a couple spots this year.”
For the men, junior Mike May has paced the Owls as of late. In the last two meets, May has been TU's top finisher, helping grab an eighth place overall finish for the men at the University of Delaware Blue & Gold Invitational. The men also garnered recognition from the USTFCCA, being ranked as high as 13th in the Mid-Atlantic Region for the first time ever.
On the women's side, junior Rebecca Mims has been leading the pack all season. The Owls top finisher in every meet this season, Mims has also been TU's top placer at the A-10's in each of her last two time competing.
The 32nd annual Men's Cross Country Championship will begin at 10:00 a.m., while the 21st annual Women's Cross Country Championship will begin at 10:45 a.m.
