Witmer posts three shots on goal, Owls unable to capitalize
PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's soccer team suffered a crucial Atlantic 10 loss in double-overtime to cross-town rival La Salle Friday evening. La Salle freshman Austin Johnson netted the winner to improve the Explorers to 5-9-3 (1-4-3 in A-10) while dropping the Owls to 8-6-1 (3-3-0 in A-10)
Johnson converted on a header pass from Ryan Sepe halfway through the second overtime.
The match was evenly played for most of the night, with the Explorers controlling much of the first half play, while the Owls pressured in the second.
Owls' sophomore Tyler Witmer led the way with three shots on goal. On the game, the Owls were slightly out-shot 15-14. Keeper Bret Mollon made six saves on the night.
The Cherry and White are back in action Sunday, when they travel to face A-10 leading Fordham at 1:00 p.m.
