Box Score

PHILADELPHIA
– Donning retro jerseys as part of “Turn Back the Clock Night” in front of a capacity crowd at McGonigle Hall, the #18/19 Temple men's basketball team routed Bowling Green 63-39 . Nineteen points from junior Ryan Brooks and a career-high 17 points out of sophomore Ramone Moore led the Owls to their sixth straight win.

Temple improves to 10-2 in their first game as a ranked team since 2001. Bowling Green falls to 5-5.

The Owls' offense kicked into high gear in the first half, posting a 24-4 run on the visitors that would give them a lead they would never relinquish. Sparked by a three-pointer from sophomore Juan Fernandez (11 pts), the Argentine followed with a jumper for two to keep the momentum rolling.

Brooks (19 pts, 6 asts) followed his lead with five points of his own, and on the ensuing possession a dunk from junior Lavoy Allen (5 pts, 13 rbs) brought the 3,900 fans in McGonigle Hall to their feet.

The highlight of the run was nine points from Moore (seven-of-nine shooting), who boosted the Owls off the bench at the end of the half.

Entering the break with a 32-13 lead, the points allowed by Temple was their least in a half this season. The stifling Owls' defense limited Bowling Green's shooting percentage to 16.7 percent in the first.

The second half proved no different than the first, with the Owls maintaining their up-tempo offense. Brooks was the catalyst from the start, completing an old-fashioned three-point-play at 19:50.

Bowling Green showed life with a 12-2 run, cutting the Temple lead to 39-29. Two quick three-pointers from junior Craig Williams (one-of-four from three) and Moore put a halt to any comeback efforts the Falcons hoped for.

Defensively, the 39-points allowed by Temple were the least since February 22, 2006 when they held Atlantic 10-foe Richmond to the same mark.

Temple returns to action when they travel to Northern Illinois on December 30. Tip-off is slated for 8:00 p.m., with the game being broadcast on 1210 AM WPHT.
