Owls Await Bowl Bid on Sunday Night
PHILADELPHIA –Temple junior WR/PR Delano Green (Fredericksburg, Va.) has been named the OwlSports.com Athlete of the Month for November.
During the month, Green helped the football team extend its single-season record to nine consecutive wins. He also became the first punt returner in Temple school history to score a PR touchdown in consecutive games.
In Temple's 56-17 win at Akron, Green returned a punt 66 yards in the second quarter for his first PR touchdown. Green's TD reclaimed Temple's lead in the game, one the Owls would not relinquish while scoring 49 consecutive points. He finished with two punt returns for 70 yards and a seven-yard rush.
In Temple's 47-13 win over Kent State, he returned a punt for a touchdown for the second consecutive week. This time, he made a 52-yard TD return. It's the first time in Temple school history a punt returner has scored a touchdown in consecutive games. His two punt returns for TDs tie the school record (Anthony Young, 1982) for PR touchdowns in a season. Green also added a 50-yard rushing touchdown.
For his efforts, Green was named the National PR of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards twice in consecutive weeks. He also earned OwlSports.com Athlete of the Week accolades following the win over Kent State.
For the first time in 30 years, Temple (9-3 overall, 7-1 MAC) awaits a bowl bid. Fans are invited to join the team on Sunday, Dec. 6 for a Bowl Selection Show party. The selection party will be held in the Liacouras Center lobby. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. The selection show begins at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
