Three Owls Reach Flight Finals At Cornell Invitational

ITHACA, NY - Juniors and doubles partners Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova and Christine Clermont will play for the Flight B championship, while sophomore Theresa Stangl has advanced to the Flight A title match at the Cornell Invitational on Saturday. In doubles, sophomores Lucie Pazderova and Josephine Bergman will play for the Flight B title.
"It was another strnog performance from the Temple women today," head coach Steve Mauro said. "Theresa has stepped up her game to reach the flight A finals and that is quite impressive."
Stangl defeated Cornell's Sanchez, 6-1, 4-6, 10-4 to advance to Sunday's finals in the top flight. She will face Cornell's Kent.
In flight B, a pair of Owls will face off on Sunday in Rukavyshnykova and Clermont. Rukavyshnykova won 6-4, 6-2 over Cornell's Duboc in the quarterfinals and beat Miller, also of Cornell, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).
Clermont downed Army's Finnegan 6-2, 6-2 and beat UMBC's Carapecia, 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the finals.
Pazderova and Bergman are in the Flight B doubles finals after defeating UMBC's Mannix/Hamilton, 8-0.
Play resumes on Sunday.
