Temple Women's Lacrosse Signs Six To National Letters Of Intent

PHILADELPHIA- Temple head women's lacrosse coach Bonnie Rosen has signed six student athletes to National Letters of Intent. Megan Chlada (Fallston, Md./John Carroll), Antonia Falcone (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley), Emily Fine (Baltimore, Md./Pikesville), Kellee Pace (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester), Stephany Parcell (Prospect Park, Pa./Interboro) and Charlotte Swavola (Cheltenham, Pa./Cheltenham) will all begin their Temple careers in 2010.
Through our recruiting process we have been able to identify and attract top student-athletes who understand, believe in, and will contribute to our vision of Temple Lacrosse, said Rosen. These young women are talented athletes, leaders on their teams and in their communities, and committed to their pursuit of a higher education. They all have high personal aspirations but are most excited to play their part to help our team be successful. It is with great excitement that I announce this class of future owls and welcome them and their families into the Temple Lacrosse Family.
A defensive midfielder, Chlada has helped John Carroll to back-to-back IAAM A Division Championships. She was named to the 2005 Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association All-Star Team and received John Carroll's Most Outstanding Player Achievement Award last season. Chlada club team, North East Maryland Select team, was the 2008 national club champions.
So excited about becoming a Temple Owl and being a member of the women's lacrosse team,; said Chlada. ready to take the next step in my academics and athletics and, though I've heard it will be challenging, I know I',m up for it.
Falcone, a midfielder, is a two-year captain of the Perkiomen Valley squad.She is a two-time Second Team All-Pioneer Conference selection and was voted her team's MVP last season. She was also a four-year starter for Perkiomen Valley's field hockey team, earning All-Conference honors for three straight seasons.
I'm very excited and proud to become a Temple Owl! said Falcone.
Fine served as captain of the Pikesville squad last season and was voted First Team All Division I Baltimore County. A midfielder, she was also selected First Team All-Baltimore County. Fine was named Second Team All-Division as a sophomore.
I am extremely excited to join the team and I hope that I am able to contribute to its success, said Fine. I'm really looking forward to beginning my college career at Temple.
A midfielder out of Chichester High School, Pace was named First Team All-Del-Val League last season. She also garnered Second Team All-Delco honors and scored her 100th career goal in 2008. A Two-time MVP, she served as captain last year.
In fifth grade I set my sights on playing lacrosse in college and now I'm so excited to be able to do this as a Temple Owl! Pace commented.
Parcell, a midfielder, is a three-time First Team All-Del Val League selection and led Interboro to a share of the Del Val League Championship last season. She was twice voted Second Team All-County (07 and 08) and was an Honorable Mention selection in 2006. Parcell has scored 188 career goals and collected 108 draw controls as the Bucs starting center in 2008.
Becoming a Temple Owl is extremely exciting for me, Parcell exclaimed.It is an honor to play for such a distinguished Division I program as Temple.
Swavola, a midfielder, helped Cheltenham to the 2007 Suburban I League Championship while garnering First Team All-League honors. A two-time Second Team All-League selection, she was named the MVP of the Keystone Games in 2007. Swavola netted 106 goals and tallied 152 points last season.
I'm still pinching myself, said Swavola of her signing with Temple.
Temple kicks off the 2009 season on February 25 when it hosts Rutgers at 3 p.m. on Geasey Field.
