BETHLEHEM, PA - Temple did not drop a set in a convincing 7-0 victory over Lehigh on Wednesday at the Lewis Tennis Center. The Owls improve to 4-3 on the season and host St. Francis (NY) on Friday at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center.
The Cherry and White started things off by winning the doubles point handily. Juniors Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova and Christine Clermont beat Ariela Cohen and Allison Schwartz, 8-2, at first doubles, while senior Felicia Frazier and sophomore Josephine Bergman beat Julie Arthofer and Elizabeth Piscitelli, 8-2 at #2.
At third doubles, sophomores Lucie Pazderova and Theresa Stangl beat Ruthie Furman and Stacey Reich, 8-0.
In singles, the match was decided after the first four singles matches. Stangl beat Cohen, 6-4, 6-0 at #1, while Pazderova captured a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 win over Schwartz at #2. Rukavyshnykova beat Arthofer, 7-5, 6-4 at #3 while Clermont won 6-1, 7-5 over Piscitelli at #4.
Eight-game pro-sets were played at fifth and sixth singles with Bergman beating Reich, 8-2, and Frazier beating Furman, 8-2.
Lehigh drops to 2-4.
