PHILADELPHIA - Temple had little trouble dispatching St. Francis (NY), 7-0, on Friday afternoon at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center. The Owls did not drop a game from first to fifth singles, with sophomore Josephine Bergman not losing a point in her 6-0, 6-0 win at #4. Junior Monique Peterson and sophomore Stephany Almonsa each won their first collegiate matches.
The Owls (5-3) swept the doubles point, winning 8-0 at #1 and #2 and 8-1 at #3. Sophomores Lucie Pazderova and Theresa Stangl were victorious at first doubles, Bergman and senior Felicia Frazier won at second doubles and Peterson and Almonsa captured a third doubles win.
Stangl, junior Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova, junior Christine Clermont, Bergman and Almonsa all won by 6-0, 6-0 scores at first through fifth singles, respectively. Peterson won 6-2, 6-1 at #6.
St. Francis (NY) falls to 0-5.
The Cherry and White will face a much tougher test on Saturday when it visits Ivy League power Penn.
