HANOVER, NH - Dartmouth rallied back after dropping the doubles point to beat Temple, 4-3, on Sunday at the Boss Tennis Center. Juniors Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova and Christine Clermont won their singles and doubles matches for the Owls. It was the fourth straight win for the Big Green, while the loss snapped a three-match winning streak for TU.
"It was a disappointing loss," head coach Steve Mauro said. "We were a little tired bit tired after playing four matches in five days. Overall it was a good effort and I'm sure we'll bounce back on Friday against Columbia."
Temple (6-4) won the doubles point behind a 9-7 win from Clermont and Rukavyshnykova at #2 and an 8-3 win from sophomore Josephine Bergman and senior Elyse Steiner at #3.
Rukavyshnykova won a three-set match at #4, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, over Georgiana Smyser and Clermont beat Carley Markovitz in a tight 7-6, 7-6 match at #5.
The Owls were unable to get another singles victory. Sophomore Theresa Stangl dropped a tough match at #2, losing to Mary Beth Winingham, 6-1, 6-7, 6-2.
Dartmouth improves to 5-6.
The Cherry and White will visit Columbia on Friday before embarking for its spring break trip to Florida.
