PHILADELPHIA- Freshman Allison McWilliams continued her stellar play, netting a team-high three goals but it was not enough as the Temple women's lacrosse team (0-6) suffered its sixth loss of the season, 14-7, to the Delaware Blue Hens (2-3) on Wednesday afternoon.
Chelsea Rosiek had two goals for the Owls, while Melissa Schweitzer and Ann Stouffer each scored one goal. Tracy Zimmer led the Cherry and White defense with four draw controls and four groundballs.
Delaware jumped out to a 5-1 lead but Temple's Rosiek and McWillams netted back to back goals to close the gap to make it 5-3 with just over two minutes left to play in the first half. The Blue Hens answered with a two-goal run one minute later to make it 7-3. McWilliams scored an unassisted tally with just four seconds remaining in the half to make it 7-4 at the break.
The Blue Hens began the second half with a three goal run to make it 10-4 eight minutes into the stanza. McWilliams got Temple on the second-half board with a free position goal, her third of the game, at 19:21, but Delaware kept firing on its way to the 14-7 result.
Jessica Colucci stopped eight shots in goal for the Owls, while UD's Jessica Cervany had seven saves.
Temple is off until Wednesday, April 25 when it travels to national powerhouse Princeton for a 7 p.m. contest.
