Owls Fall to Charlotte, 4-0

AMBLER, Pa. – Katie Budeaux pitched seven solid inning, but Charlotte used a three-run fifth inning to break open a scoreless game, en route to a 4-0 victory over the Owls from the Ambler Sports Complex on Friday afternoon.
Seniors Amanda Carver, Courtney Norene, Nikki Lee and Chante Pleydle all added singles for the Cherry and White, but the Owls’ could not get a runner across home plate.
The teams played scoreless softball for the first four innings of play until Charlotte’s Jamie crushed a solo home run over the left field fence, giving the 49ers a 1-0 lead. The 49ers padded the lead later in the inning when Charlotte’s Serena Smith knocked in two runners from second and third with a two-out, two –strike single up the middle to bring the lead to 3-0.
Smith would add another RBI in the seventh on her second single of the game, bringing the score to the 4-0 final.
Emily Jeffery picked up the win for the 49ers, striking out 11 batter over seven innings.
Burdeaux took the loss, pitching all seven innings while striking out one.
The Owls and 49ers will square off again tomorrow from Ambler. Play is scheduled for noon and can be viewed via OwlAccess.
