Women's Tennis Wins Fifth Straight Match With 6-1 Win Over GW

PHILADELPHIA - Temple won its fifth straight match with a convincing 6-1 victory over George Washington on Sunday at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center. The Owls are now 3-0 against A-10 opponents and have won 10 of their last 12 matches to improve to 13-5.
"It was a great performance by the Owls," assistant coach Frederika Girsang said. "We look forward to meeting Binghamton on Saturday."
Temple won the doubles point thanks to wins by juniors Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova and Christine Clermont at #2 (8-1) and sophomores Theresa Stangl and Josephine Bergman at #3 (8-4).
In singles, junior Elyse Steiner captured a 6-1, 6-4 win at #1, her sixth straight, over Nadia Demidenko. At #2, sophomore Lucie Pazderova beat Jacqui Corba, 6-3, 7-6 to improve to 15-2 this season.
Rukavyshnykova won her 10th straight match, beating Zoe Krohn #4 at, 6-1, 6-2 to improve to 22-4 on the year. Clermont defeated Meg Tyner at #5, 6-0, 6-1 to also reach the 20-win plateau (20-4).
Senior Felicia Frazier rounded out the lineup with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Michele Style.
GW falls to 4-8.
The Owls will host Binghamton on Saturday at 1 PM at the Temple Pavilion.
