Steiner Named Atlantic 10 Performer Of The Week

PHILADELPHIA - Temple junior Elyse Steiner has been named the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Performer of the Week, the league office announced today. Steiner won all three matches at number one singles, helping the Owls extend their winning streak to five matches.
Steiner has now won six straight matches at the top spot to improve to 11-12 overall and 7-7 at #1 singles. She started the week with a 7-5, 3-6, 10-6 win over UMBC's Ana Mungo and added a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Jennifer Kedzierski of Saint Joseph's on Friday. On Sunday, Steiner beat George Washington's Nadia Demidenko, 6-1, 6-4.
In doubles, Steiner teamed with sophomore Lucie Pazderova for a 2-1 record at the top spot.
Temple, the defending Atlantic 10 Champion, is 13-5 overall and hosts Binghamton on Saturday.
