Amherst, Mass.- Jackie Lyons had four goals and two assists to lead the UMass women’s lacrosse team (8-6, 5-0 A-10) to a 16-4 win over Temple (1-11, 1-4 A-10) on Saturday afternoon in Amherst. Chelsea Rosiek and Ann Stouffer each had two goals to lead Temple.

Stouffer kicked things off for the Owls with an unassisted goal just 30 seconds into the game but the Minutewomen answered to tie the game one minute later. Rosiek's unassisted tally at 19:47 put Temple back on top 2-1 but that would be the final advantage of the game for the visitors. UMass rattled off seven straight goals to take an 8-2 lead going into halftime.

Lyons made it 9-2 early on in the second stanza but Rosiek answered with a free position goal to end the eight goal UMass run and make it 9-3. The Temple offensive surge was short-lived as the A-10 leaders out-scored the Owls, 7-1 over the next 20 minutes for the 16-4 result.

Jessica Colucci had 11 saves in goal for Temple, while Tess Bishop stopped one shot. Katie Florence had 12 saves for the Minutewomen.

Temple takes a break from A-10 play on Tuesday when it travels to Villanova for a 6 p.m. contest.
