Villanova, Pa.- Junior Alison Incarnato may have scored the game-winning goal with just over five minutes remaining but the Temple women's lacrosse team has Chelsea Rosiek to thank for its, 12-11 victory over Villanova (6-7) on Tuesday night. The junior scored four goals and assisted on five others, including the game-winner, to give the Owls (2-11) their second victory of the season.
Down by three goals with a little over 21 minutes to play, Rosiek scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at 11 at 9:06. Rosiek fed Incarnato the game-winner for her team-leading 14th assist of the season with 5:38 left to play.
Ann Stouffer scored three times for the Cherry and White, while Kelsey Zenuk had one goal and two assists. Brittney Hoffman, Jackie Mercer and Lindsey Colferai all tallied one.
The Wildcats struck first but the Cherry and White rattled off three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead with 20:44 remaining. Villanova was down for long, however, putting together a foul goal run to make it 5-3 at with 16 and a half minutes left. Rosiek scored an unassisted goal at 9:54 to close the gap to one but that would be as close it would get for the remainder of the half. VU outscored Temple, 3-2, over the next nine minutes to make it 8-6 at the half.
Rosiek found Stouffer to start off the second half and make it 8-7. The teams traded two goal runs for the rest of the stanza before Rosiek's strong finishing push.
Jessica Colucci had 11 saves in goal for Temple, while Maggie Langan had 10 saves for the Wildcats.
Temple returns to action on Friday, taking on St. Bonaventure at 3 p.m. The game will also honor Devon Lam, the Owls fallen teammate, and the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.
