Owls Advance In A-10 Women's Tennis Tournament With 4-0 Win Over Duquesne

MONROEVILLE, PA - Temple advanced in the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Tournament with a 4-0 victory over Duquesne on Friday afternoon at Club 4 Life. The second-seeded Owls move on to Saturday's semifinal against #3 Xavier at 1 PM.
"The team played with a lot of energy and focus," head coach Steve Mauro said. "We are going to take it one match at a time."
The Owls won the doubles point as junior Elyse Steiner and sophomore Lucie Pazderova won 8-4 at #1 and juniors Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova and Christine Clermont recorded an 8-1 victory at #3.
In singles, Steiner captured a 6-3, 6-1 win at #1 over Zena Williams for her ninth straight victory. Pazderova beat Rachel McGowan, 6-1, 6-1 at #2 and Clermont downed Alex Albano, 6-3, 6-1 to finish off the victory.
Three other singles matches were unfinished once the Owls clinched the win.
Temple improves to 16-5 while Duquense drops to 7-12.
