DOVER, Del. - Amanda Carver stole the show against Delaware State, as the senior became Temple's all-time steals leader with two steals in the first game while also adding five hits and three RBI at the plate for the day, leading the streaking Owls (11-21, 5-5) to a sweep of the Hornets, 9-0 and 8-2.
With the two wins, the Owls have now won seven straight games and eight of nine.
Carver, now with 53 career steals, passed former Owl Katie Weigle (51) for the all-time mark.
On the mound, senior Katie Burdeaux won her fourth consecutive start (5-10), as did freshman Sarah Reynolds (6-4).
In the first game, the Owls broke open a scoreless game with a seven-run sixth inning, en route to the 9-0 victory.
With the score knotted at 0-0 entering the sixth, the Cherry and White took control of the game with some timely hitting. With pinch-runner freshman Christine Schlichter at third and Burdeaux at first base, senior Nicole Lee reached on a error at second base to bring home the Owls' first runner, making the score 1-0.
RBI singles from the next two batters - freshman Rachel Knable and junior Krystle Metzler - brought the score to 3-0, while another Delaware State error on a Chante Pleydle bunt extended the Owls' lead to 4-0 with just one out. Two batters later, a single by Carver brought home two more runs, bringing the score to 6-0. The final dagger came when Jess Hirschbuhl's single scored Carver to make the score 7-0.
The Owls would two more runs in seventh on RBI singles from Carver and freshman Lauren Spoo to bring the score to the 9-0 final.
Burdeaux picked up the victory, tossing six shutout innings while striking out five batters.
Sophomore Amanda Branco pitched a perfect seventh inning in relief.
In the second game, the Owls wasted no time with the bats, scoring five runs in the first inning and eight runs by end of the third inning to cruise to the 8-2 victory.
Burdeaux led the offensive attack with three his and two RBI, while Carver, senior Courtney Norene and freshman Alysse Pujol all added two hits apiece.
Knable added a two-RBI single, while Metzler, Pleydle and Hirschbuhl all hit safely.
Reynolds pitched all seven innings for the victory, striking out seven.
The red-hot Owls, currently tied in fifth place in the Atlantic 10 standing, will look to move up when they travel to Saint Louis for a doubleheader on Sunday. Action is slated to begin at noon.
