PHILADELPHIA- Kelsey Zenuk began the game with a hat trick and finished with a game-high four goals and one assist to lead the Temple women's lacrosse team (4-12) to a 15-5 win over Lafayette (2-15) in the 2009 season finale on Wednesday afternoon. The Owls sent off seniors Brittney Hoffman, Lauren Carey and Andrea DeSabato on a winning note, who led Temple to three Atlantic 10 Tournaments in their four seasons on North Broad.

Senior Brittney Hoffman had three goals, while freshman Karly Cohen had two goals and a game-high three assists. Ann Stouffer contributed one goal and two assists and Lindsey Colferai had one goal and one assist. Andrea DeSabato, Nicholle St. Pierre, Alison Incarnato and Keelin Hood all chipped in with one tally and Jen Homka, Jackie Mercer and Missy Schweitzer dished one assist a piece.

The Owls jumped out to a 5-0 lead with 16 minutes remaining, thanks to three straight goals by Zenuk.  Julia Bateman got the Leopards on the board with a free position goal at 12:15 but the Owls rattled off three more tallies to take an 8-1 lead going into the break.

Lafayette made it 8-2 early in the second stanza but the Owls continued to dominate and went on a four-goal run to take a 10-goal lead (12-2) with just over 20 minutes remaining. Drehewing sparked a two-goal run to get Lafayette within eight goals (12-4) but that would be as close as the Leopards could get as the Owls outscored the visitors, 3-1 over the final 12 minutes of the game.

Lafayette actually outshot Temple 32-24 but the Owls were able to keep a considerable lead thanks to outstanding goalie play by Jessica Colucci and Katie Phillips. Colucci and Phillips split time in goal with Colucci stopping 10 shots and Phillips earning a career-high seven saves. Emily Bjork had one save as the Leopards starting goalie, while Alexa Biale had six saves.

The Leopards were led by Maria Drehwing with two goals and one assist.
