PHILADELPHIA- Freshman Kelsey Zenuk netted three goals and junior Chelsea Rosiek had two goals and three assists to lead the Temple women's lacrosse team (1-10, 1-3 A-10) to a huge 12-6 victory over the visiting Richmond Spiders (2-11, 2-2 A-10) on Sunday afternoon. With the win the Owls notch their first victory of the season.

For the first time since kicking off the 2009 season, the Cherry and White put together a complete 60 minute game, dominating on both the offensive and defense ends of the field. Eight different players notched at least one goal and the TU defense forced 17 Spider turnovers. Goalkeeper Jessica Colucci was unstoppable in the net for Temple, posting 10 saves, nine groundballs and one caused turnover. Keelin Hood had two goals, while Ann Stouffer, Jackie Mercer, Lindsey Colferai, Brittney Hoffman and Missy Schweitzer all scored one. Stouffer, Colferai and Mercer each dished one assist.

Richmond opened up the scoring with a goal by Caitlin Fifield at 26:32 but that would be the one and only lead of the game for the Spiders, as TU rattled off a three-goal run to make it 3-1 with just under 17 minutes to play. Stouffer and Rosiek each had a goal and an assist during that stretch. Allison Furstenburg made it a one goal game with an unassisted tally at 12:47 but Zenuk answered with two straight tallies to make it 5-3 at 5:23. Just when it seemed that that score would hold going into the break, Richmond slipped one past Colucci with 37 seconds remaining to put the score at 5-3 at halftime.

RU started the half strong with a Fifield to Mary Flowers feed just a minute into the stanza, making it 5-4. That would be as close as the game would be, however, as Temple pumped up its offense and scored three goals in the next five and a half minutes to make it 8-4 at 22:24. Colferai started the surge with a free position shot at 27:04 and Zenuk and Mercer followed with goals of their own. Furstenburg fought to keep her team in the contest, scoring two goals to make it 9-6 with 7:47 remaining but the Owls were not about to let their first victory slip away. Temple finished strong with three goals in the final six minutes, including two straight by Hood, for the 12-6 result.

Rosiek and Lauren Caminiti were strong in the midfield, each grabbing three draw controls.

Erica Marrocco and Victoria Roebuck split time in goal for Richmond, with Marrocco picking up three saves and Roebuck stopping one.

The Spiders were led by Furstenburg, who had three goals and one assist.

Temple returns to action on Saturday, April 11, when it travels to UMass for a 1 p.m. contest.
