Two Women's Crew Boats Advance At Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - Two Temple women's crew boats qualified for Saturday's semifinals while the Owls other three boats all turned in season-best times on Friday at the 71st Dad Vail Regatta held on the Schuylkill. The first day of racing was done via time 1500 meter time trials instead of normal heats due to river conditions. Saturday's race schedule has been altered drastically due to weather and conditions, see www.dadvail.org for new schedule.

The varsity eight, comprised of coxswain Jillian Ploof, stroke Laura Altimari, Laura Scullin (7-seat), Bailey Chick (6-seat), Mary Webster (5-seat), Brynn Moore (4-seat), Mary Peach (3-seat), Kendra Dickenson (2-seat), Nicole Wagner (bow), finished 11th of 30 boats in a time of 4:43.013. Grand Valley State posted the best time, finishing in 4:30.499. The Owls' semifinal commences at 7:28 a.m. and if TU finishes in the top two it will compete in the final (12:07 p.m.).

The Owls freshman/novice eight also made it to the semifinals, placing seventh of 32 boats in a time of 5:08.067. The boat, comprised of coxswain Isabella Bourbon, stroke Dana Meadows, Megan Hanlin (7-seat), Kara Jackson (6-seat), Taylor Wasserleben (5-seat), Allison Boc (4-seat), Amy Shrader (3-seat), Rebecca Rosenberg (2-seat), Molly Schreiner (bow), will take to the river again in their semifinal heat scheduled for 9:59 a.m. The final is set for 1:45 p.m.

The varsity four of coxswain Erin Buchanan, stroke Carolyn Bailey, Megan Silk (3-seat), Kirsty Thayer (2-seat), Courtney Wall (bow) placed 26th of 37 crews in a time of 5:19.187.

The lightweight four of coxswain Maureen McDermitt, stroke Caitlin Pennington, Stephanie Kiluk (3-seat), Colleen Bianco (2-seat) and Allison Bates (bow) placed 10th of 16 boats in a time of 6:08.465.

The freshman/novice four of coxswain Ryan Ellenbaum, stroke Erin Matlack, Ana Tamaccio (3-seat), Iris Kapo (2-seat) and Kaytlynn Gorson (bow) came in 42nd of 52 boats in a time of 6:03.005.
