Spencer Prescott Fundraiser Planned

June 1, 2009
PHILADELPHIA - Former Temple assistant football coach Spencer Prescott is in need of a kidney transplant. To assist with medical costs, former Temple assistant coach and current Delaware defensive coordinator Nick Rapone has organized a fundraiser for July 25 to help his friend and former co-worker. Full details are listed below.
More than 70 Temple alumni football players and six alumni basketball players are expected to participate.
Prescott worked at Temple for 14 seasons under three Temple football coaches-- Bruce Arians (1983-86), Jerry Berndt (1990-92), and Bobby Wallace (1999-05). During his tenure with the Owls, the Philadelphia native directed the safeties, wide receivers, and running backs. He was also in charge of the team's punt rush unit. The Owl defense was one of only eight in the country to finish in the top 20 in total defense in 2001 and 2002.
Prescott first paced the Temple sidelines from 1983-86 as the Owls' running backs coach. He is credited with the recruitment and development of All-American and Temple all-time leading rusher Paul Palmer.
A 1980 graduate of Villanova with a degree in sociology, Prescott was a standout running back for the Wildcats from 1975-79. He holds a black belt in karate. From 1976-79, he was a kickboxer, posting a professional record of 44-2 with 36 KOs.
Prescott and his wife Jennifer have three children-- Spencer, Anthony, and Jocelyn.
