Former Temple Softball Great Inducted Into Lehigh Valley Softball Hall Of Fame

PHILADELPHIA- Former Temple University softball great Lisa Sommer (’88) was inducted into the Lehigh Valley Softball Hall of Fame last week, as announced by the organization on Friday.
A three-time All-Atlantic 10 selection, Sommer earned Regional All-American status in 1987. She holds the TU single season record for stolen base percentage and is ranked fourth in stolen bases, swiping 14 in the 1987 season. A member of the 1987 A-10 All-Tournament team, Sommer is also ranked tied for third all time in stolen bases (31) and sixth in career runs scored (85).
Sommer was a four-year starter in the outfield at Parkland High School and helped the Trojans win an unprecedented eight consecutive titles-four East Penn Conference and four District 11- from 1981-84. She was an All-Conference selection each of those four seasons and hit over .500 as a senior in 1984.
Most recently, Sommer was an assistant coach on Bangor’s 2008 team that won the Colonial League and District 11 4A titles.
