McLaughlin boasts first place on parallel and high bars
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Temple men's gymnastics team competed to a first place finish at the Navy Open, held Saturday in Annapolis, Md. The Owls, led by two first place finishes from senior Patrick McLaughlin, scored a team total of 332.500 en route to winning the meet.
The reigning ECAC Men's Gymnast of the Week, McLaughlin scored 14.650 on parallel bars, and 14.900 on high bar, both earning him first place. The senior also placed second on floor (14.350) and third on pommel horse (13.400).
Also taking a first place finish was senior Scott Bloomfield, who scored a 15.600 on vault. Junior Blake Collins took the title on rings (14.650) and finished third all-around (84.050).
Two freshmen fared well for the Owls, with Allan Mallone placing third on high bar (14.200) and Assaf Zoor finishing second on rings (14.400).
The Owls are in action next in their home opener, hosting Illinois-Chicago and SUNY Brockport in McGonigle Hall. Action is slated for January 31 at 1:00 p.m.
