No. 10 Men’s Gymnastics Celebrates Senior Day Saturday Hosting Springfield

PHILADELPHIA - In their second and final home meet of the season, the EIGL-leading no. 10 Temple men's gymnastics team will host conference-foe Springfield, Saturday, February 13 at 7:30 p.m. in McGonigle Hall. The meet marks the final time the Owls' two graduating seniors, Patrick McLaughlin and Tyler Croteau, will compete at home.
Temple has a hold on the top spot in the conference, owning an average point total of 338.317. In their last home contest, the Owls beat out defending conference champion Illinois-Chicago, posting a season high 343.750.
Leading the way all season has been McLaughlin. The reigning USA Gymnastics and EIGL Performer of the Week, McLaughlin boasts a conference-best all-around average of 84.233 (18th nationally). He ranks third in the EIGL on floor (14.360), fourth on pommel horse (13.340), and second on vault (15.800).
Junior Blake Collins has been a steady all-around performer for the Owls, ranking tied for second in the conference with an average of 84.050. Collins averages a team-best score of 14.150 on rings, ranking third in the conference.
Freshman Brett Statman bolsters high bar for the Owls, posting a team-best average of 13.925 on the apparatus.
As a team, Temple owns a conference-best average on vault (61.967), pommel horse (53.233), and high bar (56.333). The team's vault average ranks sixth nationally.
Springfield arrives to North Broad Street the third-ranked team in the conference, earning a season average of 331.200. The Pride has taken pride in their floor routines, topping the conference with a team average of 56.733. Freshman Jimmy Pezzino and junior Josh Fox have a hold on the top two spots in the conference on floor, posting averages of 14.525 and 14.362, respectively.
