Owls Women's Tennis Drops 7-0 Decision at #45 Princeton

Nationally ranked Tigers too much for Temple
PRINCETON, N.J. - The Temple women's tennis team faced an Ivy League squad for the second time in three matches, falling 7-0 at Princeton on Wednesday, January 27. The Tigers are ranked 45th in the nation.
Princeton swept the doubles matches to get off to a 1-0 start. Junior Lucie Pazderova and senior Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova pushed the duo of Hilary Bartlett and Taylor Marable to an 8-6 decision at number one. Junior Theresa Stangl and freshman Katharina Mittag dropped their match at number two, 8-3, while junior Josephine Bergman and sophomore Mellana Cramer were shuout at the third flight, 8-0.
In singles play, Rukavyshnykova took Bartlett, the 121st ranked singles player in the nation, to three sets. Bartlett earned a 6-3 win in the first before Rukavyshnykova blanked her 6-0 in the second. Bartlett ended it with a 6-1 third set.
Princeton earned two-set victories in the final five singles matches. Pazderova nearly forced a third against Melissa Saiontz at number two, but Saiontz pulled out the 6-3, 7-6 (5) win.
Temple drops to 1-2 on the season and will be in action next at Penn on Tuesday, February 2 at 4:00 p.m.
