Women's Tennis Picked Second in A-10 Preseason Poll

1.28.10 | Women's Tennis

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Temple women's tennis team has been picked to finish second in the 14-team Atlantic 10 women's tennis conference in 2010 voting conducted by the league's head coaches. The Owls, who finished runner-up last season and captured the 2008 crown, are expected to finish behind 2009 winner Richmond, tabbed to claim it all again.

Temple is led by seniors Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova and Elyse Steiner, who both garnered first-team All-Conference distinction in 2009. Rukavyshnykova went 13-4 in singles play last season and at one point racked up a 12-match winning streak. Steiner compiled an 11-8 record while playing at No. 1 singles for the Owls.

Charlotte is picked third, followed by Xavier, Massachusetts, Saint Louis, George Washington, Duquesne, Rhode Island, Dayton, Saint Joseph's, Fordham, St. Bonaventure and La Salle.

The 2010 A-10 Women's Tennis Championship will be held April 23-25 at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Mo.
