AMHERST, Mass. - The Temple women's soccer team endured a tough conference match at Massachusetts on Friday afternoon, as the Minutewomen posted five goals in the first half to take the match 5-0. The Owls are now 5-10-1, 0-4-1 while Massachusetts moves to 6-9-0, 3-3-0.
Massachusetts' Deanna Colarossi posted a hat trick in the first half scoring in the 15th, 27th and 33rd minutes. Also tallying for the Minutewomen was Therese Smith in the 18th and Blair Ferry in the 44th.
Owls' keeper sophomore Gillian Kacsuta battled through the first, making seven saves as Temple was outshot 18-6.
Junior Tara Murphy entered in the second to relieve Kacsuta, making four saves. The Owls managed to keep Massachusetts scoreless through the second half.
Massachusetts' keeper Emily Cota made five saves to earn the shutout.
Junior Allicia 'Sha' Yurkovic led the Cherry and White with four shots, one on goal. Classmate Niki Conn tallied three shots on the game with one on goal.
The Owls wrap up their weekend taking on Rhode Island at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 24.
