Owls stumble against Spiders; look to clinch A-10 tournament berth Sunday

RICHMOND, Va. – Dani Pycroft scored the lone goal of the contest just over seven minutes into overtime to lift the Richmond Spiders to a 1-0 victory over the Cherry and White on Friday afternoon.
With the win, Richmond (9-9, 4-2 A-10) clinched a berth in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The Owls (8-11, 3-3 A-10) can clinch a spot in the tournament with a victory at Geasey Field on Sunday against Lock Haven. The 2010 Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Championships will be held at Temple's Geasey Field November 5-6.
The Owls found themselves on the defensive for most of the afternoon as senior goalkeeper Sarah Dalrymple made five saves in regulation to keep the game scoreless through 70 minutes.
Taryn Nichols and Kaylee Keener registered the only Temple shots on goal.
The Owls will conclude regular season play Sunday at 12:00 pm. It will be Senior Day at Geasey Field as the team will honor seniors Kylee Yetter, Taryn Nichols, Katey DeIaco, and Sarah Dalrymple before a pivotal A-10 matchup against Lock Haven.
