Game Notes

VILLANOVA, PA -
The #25/rv Temple men's basketball team travels to #8/8 Villanova Thursday (7:00 p.m./ESPN2/1210 AM WPHT) for the most anticipated college basketball game in the city of Philadelphia this season. The Owls (9-2) will be looking for their second win over a Top 10 program this month while the Wildcats (10-1) are seeking a perfect 4-0 Big 5 record and revenge from last season's, 75-65, loss at the Liacouras Center.

The Owls, under the direction of fifth-year head coach Fran Dunphy, have won six straight since dropping two of three games at the Old Spice Classic in Orlando Thanksgiving weekend. TU has also won 13 straight December games with its last loss coming at the hands of Villanova, 62-45, in its last trip to The Pavilion (Dec. 29, 2008).

Junior guard Ramone Moore continues to lead a balanced Temple offensive attack with a 14.9 scoring average. Senior forward Lavoy Allen, a Naismith and Wooden Award candidate, tops the Owls in rebounding (6.8 rpg.) while ranking second in scoring (10.2 ppg.). Cousy Award candidate Juan Fernandez (9.8 ppg.) tops TU in assists (43) with junior forwards Scootie Randall (8.5 ppg., 5.1 rpg.) and Michael Eric (7.5 ppg,, 5.5 rpg.) completing the team's starting five.

Villanova, under the direction of 10th-year head coach Jay Wright, has won five straight since their lone setback to Tennessee (78-68, Nov. 26). The Wildcats are led by the backcourt tandem of senior guards Corey Stokes (15.7 ppg., 33 three-pointers) and Corey Fisher (15.55 ppg., 54 assists). Sophomore guard Maalik Wayns (12.4 pp.g, 53 assists) and senior forward Antonio Pena (10.2 ppg., 7.5 rpg.) also score in double figures while sophomore center Mouphtaou (8.8 ppg., 8.1 rpg.) is the team's top rebounder.

Villanova leads the series, 43-41, and owns an 8-6 advantage on its campus. The Wildcats have won five straight over the Owls at The Pavilion with the last Temple win in the building coming 20 years ago on Nov. 29, 1990 (70-57).
