Temple Crew To Host Murphy Cup Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University men's and women's crews host the 28th Annual Murphy Cup Regatta this Saturday (April 3) on the Schuylkill River. The second largest intercollegiate regatta held on the Schuykill, the Murphy Cup features competitors from 35 colleges, 28 cities and nine states. Temple will look to best defending champion Jacksonville in the men's Varsity 8 while Bucknell, the winner of the 2009 women's Varsity 8, will look to repeat as well.
Named after John Murphy, a Temple rower who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident in the Summer of 1980, the Murphy Cup Regatta was established in 1982.
The races will kick-off at 9:00 a.m. with the women's Novice 8 heat. Look for the Owls' women's Varsity 8 heat to commence at approximately 12:54 p.m., with the men's Varsity 8 heat immediately following at about 1:00 p.m.
