Temple completes second day of Under Armour Invitational

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Jacksonville scored multiple runs in both the second and third innings on the way to a 12-1 defeat of the Temple softball team at the Under Armour Invitational on Saturday, March 6. Ali Robinson and Samantha Schoell each registered two hits in the game for TU.
The Dolphins jumped on Temple early with a four-run second inning that included two doubles and two singles. Unfortunately, that wasn't Jacksonville's best inning. The squad returned in the third to plate seven runs on six hits and two errors for an 11-0 lead.
Temple avoided the shutout when Robinson led off the fourth inning with her second home run of the season. The Owls threatened to make it more when Danielle Fagan followed with a ground rule double down the left field line, and Rachel Knable drew a one-out walk, but Jacksonville got out of the inning without any more damage.
The Dolphins tacked on one more run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 12-1, and after the Cherry & White came up empty in the fifth, the game was over due to the 10-run rule.
Kristen Marris took the loss for Temple, pitching two innings and allowing four hits and four runs. Olivia Kline was the winner for Jacksonville, going the distance while allowing five hits.
TU is 3-5 and will wrap up play at the Under Armour Invitational on Sunday with a game against Toledo at 1:30 p.m.
