Senior earns first honor of season for Owls
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Senior Anastasiia Rukavyshnykova has picked up Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors for the Temple women's tennis team for the week ending April 18, 2010. The award is the second of her career.
Rukavyshnykova helped lead Temple to a 2-0 week to end the regular-season. She opened the week with a 6-1, 6-2, win at number two singles and an 8-6 win at the second doubles flight with partner Lucie Pazderova. Later in the week, she celebrated the final home match of her career with a 2-0 day against Atlantic 10 rival Fordham. The team captain posted a 6-1, 6-0, win at first singles and again teamed up with Pazderova for an 8-4 win at second doubles.
For the season, Rukavyshnykova is 16-12 in singles action and 14-9 in doubles play. The Cherry and White are 9-11 on the season and will travel to the Atlantic 10 Championship this weekend in Saint Louis, Mo.
