Senior Tracy Zimmer earns first team honors; senior Chelsea Rosiek takes second team honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Seven members of the Temple lacrosse team have earned Atlantic 10 postseason honors, including four to all-conference teams and three to the all-academic team. The Owls' top honoree is senior defender Tracy Zimmer, named to the A-10 First Team after being honored as a second team selection a year ago.

Temple is on its way to Pittsburgh and the campus of Duquesne University, where the fourth-seeded Owls will face top-seeded Richmond in the first semifinal at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 23.

The A-10 has created a website to serve as the 2010 Tournament Central. Fans can link to live stats as well as live video streaming for the semifinals.

Should Temple win, it will face either second-seeded La Salle or third-seeded Massachusetts in the championship game at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 25. That game will be televised live on CBS College Sports.

Zimmer has proven herself as one of the top defenders in the league. She ranks second on the team with 29 ground balls as well as second with 13 caused turnovers, and recently scored a goal for the Owls' against Saint Joseph's on April 18.

Senior Chelsea Rosiek, Temple's leader on offense this season with 22 goals and 22 assists, was named to the A-10 Second Team, as well as to the Academic All-Conference Team for the second straight year.

Freshmen Charlotte Swavola and Stephany Parcell have come up big in their debut seasons at Temple, and were honored with selection to the A-10 All-Rookie Team. Parcell is tied for third on the team with 17 goals, while Swavola is ranked fifth with 13 goals.

Sophomore Missy Schweitzer and junior Ann Stouffer were both named to the Academic All-Conference Team along with Rosiek. Stouffer has a 3.90 grade-point-average as an entrepreneurship major, Schweitzer has a 3.74 GPA as a kinesiology major, and Rosiek has a 3.44 GPA as an English major.
