AMBLER, Pa. –
One day after being no-hit by one of the top pitchers in the country, the Temple Owls finally got to Fordham's Jen Mineau in Atlantic 10 softball action on Saturday, April 24 at Ambler Field. The Cherry & White collected three hits, but were still outpowered by the visiting Rams, 7-0.

Fordham opened the game on a strong note when Jocelyn Dearborn drove the second pitch of the outing over the left centerfield fence. The Rams would add another in the inning on a Meghan Shager single that scored Jamie LaBovick who reached on a hit-by-pitch earlier in the frame.

It was scoreless softball for the next three innings, despite some opportunities from both teams. The Owls best chance came in the second when Rachel Knable hit a one-out single, and Christina Sykora moved her to second one out later to put two runners on. Mineau got out of it unscathed, however, inducing a groundout from Krystle Metzler to end the threat.

The Fordham offense came back alive in the top of the fifth, recording three runs and three hits in the inning. LaBovick led off with a single to right field and Beckah Wiggins followed with a homer to left centerfield. After Erin Fisher drew a walk and stole second, Nicole Callahan delivered a timely hit to right field to plate Fisher for the third run of the frame.

The Rams tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth on a Jess Richards solo homerun and Wiggins RBI single.

Lauren Spoo (1-2) took the loss on the mound, going 5.0 innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs. Kristen Marris came on in relief for 2.0 innings, giving up two hits. Mineau (26-5) was the winning pitcher, throwing 5.0 innings, surrendering three hits and striking out 11. Chelsea Plimpton pitched 2.0 innings of relief for Fordham, now allowing a hit.

Temple is 14-25 overall and 3-7 in Atlantic 10 play. The Owls are scheduled to host George Washington for a conference doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. Fordham improves to 39-8, 12-2 in the A-10.
