Women's Tennis Picks Up 5-2 Win at George Washington

Owls win doubles point and four singles matches
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Temple women's tennis team picked up a critical Atlantic 10 victory against George Washington on Saturday, April 3. The Owls defeated the Colonials, 5-2, at the GW-Mount Vernon Athletic Complex.
With the two teams splitting the first two doubles matches, the point came down to the number three court. May Johnson and Theresa Stangl came up big for TU, pulling out an 8-5 win over Dorota Lysienia and Meg Tyner to secure the point.
Katharina Mittag extended Temple's lead with her 6-1, 6-1 win at number six, and after Georgetown earned its first point with a victory at number one, Johnson made it a 3-1 match by beating Tyner, 6-4, 6-4, at the fifth flight.
Stangl was once again a part of the deciding match, this time going solo to clinch the win for TU with a tough 7-6 (6), 6-4 number four win over Jennifer Hirsh.
GW falls to 7-8 overall, 3-2 in A-10 play. Temple is 7-9 overall and 3-2 in the conference. The Owls play again on April 10 in a 10 a.m. match at Syracuse.
