BALTIMORE, Md. – The National Lacrosse Hall of Fame 2010 Induction Class has been approved by the U.S. Lacrosse Board of Directors, and includes Temple Lacrosse Head Coach Bonnie Rosen. This year's class will be inducted in a ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 30 at The Grand Lodge in Hunt Valley, Md.

Rosen recently completed her fourth season with the Owls after a 10-year stint at the University of Connecticut, but it is her playing career for which she is being recognized with this hall of fame honor.

"This is a well-deserved honor for Bonnie, and the Temple Athletics community congratulates her on her induction into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame," said Temple Director of Athletics Bill Bradshaw. "Bonnie is a winner both on the field and in life. She is a true role model for our student-athletes and we are fortunate to have her as our women's lacrosse coach."

As a lacrosse player at Harriton High School in Bryn Mawr, Pa., Rosen was an All-DelVal and All-Main Line team member, an All-American honorable mention (1987) and All-American (1988). She was a three-sport athlete at Harriton, also competing in field hockey and basketball. Rosen went on to the University of Virginia where she was a two-sport athlete in field hockey and lacrosse, and earned All-American honors in lacrosse. She was voted team captain and MVP in 1992, received honorable mention on the All-South Regional team and played in the North/South All-Star Game (1992). She is a member of the ACC's 50th Anniversary Women's Lacrosse Team (2002).

Rosen was a 13-year club player, winning the USWLA National Tournament Championship with Philadelphia (1994) and New England (1998, 1999). Internationally, Rosen was a member of the U.S. Women's National First Team and U.S Women's Elite Team from 1992-95, the Touring Out Team (Great Britain 1996, Australia 2000) and the Touring In Team (1999, 2004). Rosen's team won gold at the 1997 (Edogowa, Japan) and 2001 (High Wycombe, England) World Cup games and silver at the 2005 games (Annapolis, Md.)

She was awarded the Beth Allen Award (1999) and inducted into the US Lacrosse Connecticut Chapter Lacrosse Hall of Fame (2010), the US Lacrosse Philadelphia/Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter Lacrosse Hall of Fame (2008), the Harriton High School Hall of Fame (2000) and the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame (2002). Rosen is currently the head coach at Temple University.

“The sport of lacrosse has and continues to give so much to me in my life,” said Rosen. “So many of my fellow inductees as well as current Hall of Fame members have played a large role in enabling me to experience all that the sport of lacrosse has to offer. To be honored alongside these amazing women and men is truly special for me.”

The 2010 induction class also includes Scott Bacigalupo, Michael Burnett, Harry McNamara “Mac” Ford, Eleanor Keady Gaffney, Francesca Den Hartog, Jack Kaley and Mary McCarthy Stefano.

A program of U.S. Lacrosse, the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame was established in 1957 to honor men and women, past and present, who by their deeds as players, coaches, officials and/or contributors, and by the example of their lives, personify the great contribution of lacrosse to our way of life. More than 350 lacrosse greats are honored in the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame, which is located with the Lacrosse Museum at U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters in Baltimore.
